Letter to Future - LGBT+ VC Fellows

The LGBT+ VC fellowship program has been a life-changing journey, both personally and professionally. As I reflect on this transformative summer, I am overwhelmed with gratitude for the countless opportunities and invaluable lessons that have shaped me.
It all began at the captivating LGBT+ VC launch event in April, where I was immediately drawn to the vibrant energy of over 100 passionate VCs and founders. The palpable sense of support and representation within the industry inspired me to get involved and make a meaningful impact. My encounter with Jackson during the launch event marked the beginning of an incredible adventure. He warmly welcomed me and took the time to guide me through the various avenues to contribute effectively.
The most unforgettable experience during my fellowship was undoubtedly at LGBT+ VC’s Summit. The week-long conference introduced me to industry leaders like Tumblr founder David Karp, former General Assembly CEO Lisa Lewin, and Lerer Hippeau VC Caitlin Strandberg.
I also had the opportunity to broaden my horizons by attending the VC Worldwide event at the United Nations. Witnessing the global impact of venture capital in driving positive change for the LGBTQ+ community left a profound impression on me. On a professional level, the fellowship has been an immense learning experience. My understanding of venture capital's potential for positive change and its role in empowering the LGBTQ+ community has grown significantly. Through interactions with industry leaders, I have honed my networking skills and found valuable mentorship and guidance.
Working closely with these esteemed guests, I had the privilege of contributing to engaging panel discussions and forging enduring partnerships. This strengthened my project management skills and business acumen.
Above all, this fellowship has sparked a newfound sense of purpose within my career aspirations. Surrounded by passionate individuals dedicated to making a difference within venture capital, I feel more determined than ever to advocate for LGBTQ+ representation, community, and equity within the venture capital realm and beyond.
As I approach the conclusion of the LGBT+ VC fellowship program, I am filled with excitement for what lies ahead. The transformative experiences and connections I have made will undoubtedly shape my future, as I continue to contribute to a more inclusive and prosperous world for the LGBTQ+ community.
